Kate provided us with an excellent evidence-based account of financial and quality issues and of the Council’s need to change policy and funding processes. Kate’s skills were appreciated by all and viewed as very credible and convincing by senior managers
Kate has extensive experience of giving practical advice and assistance to sheltered housing providers both as a provider and as an expert advisor, particularly involving those faced with the need to achieve service cuts at short notice.
She also has a good understanding of the potential opportunities and challenges for sheltered care and extra care providers arising from the personalisation agenda.
Kate is in the process of carrying out an overarching strategic and value for money review of all older peoples’ services for two LSVTs and is assisting another LSVT to ensure that current Supporting People-funded services offer a good strategic fit and meet locally acceptable parameters in terms of cost.
Kate has developed a streamlined and efficient approach to assessing the needs of people living in sheltered housing accommodation. This helps providers to deliver a more personalised service and ensures that increasingly scarce support is delivered to those most in need.
Kate is regularly asked to speak on the issue of older people and Personalisation and last year chaired a two-day conference organised by the Chartered Institute of Housing on this subject. She also delivered a workshop on older people and Personalisation at the National Housing Foundation’s Older Peoples conference and delivered a workshop about Personalisation and its impact on Assistive Technology at the National Telecare Conference last Autumn.
